E. Fermi – C. E. Gadda

The I.T.I. “E. Fermi – C. E. Gadda” is an institution of secondary education located in the eastern part of the city of Naples, in close contact with the Centro Direzionale, not far from Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Carlo III. It is currently connected to the province and to the city center by a diversified road network. It can be reached from other areas of the city by urban public transport (bus, subway and tram) and from the province through the national railway service, the Circumvesuviana railway, and some main road arteries connecting to the Neapolitan hinterland.

The school population is characterized by a heterogeneous population both social extraction and economic condition; most of the students come from the neighboring municipalities and the coastal area. The lack of a common historical substratum therefore constitutes a limit to the formation of a social group conscience essential to face and solve the problems of an increasingly vast neighborhood and with more and more needs. However, to respond concretely to the needs of the context in which our school is located, the “Fermi Gadda” Technical Industrial Institute intends to have an attitude towards the territory of all the training initiatives it proposes. Through an exchange of experiences, the school wants to represent an institution sensitive to social changes, to local problems, to the expectations of users, changing its organization in relation to the needs. The initiatives of the local authorities that collaborate with the school and the cultural initiatives of the school projected towards the territory, create, in fact, an exchange of experiences, values, ideas that make the school a living organism, in continuous evolution.

The school promotes the use of innovative teaching methods such as the “E-learning” project, the Moodle and Edmodo platforms that aim to make teachers interact with each other and students with their professors, using all the potential that IT tool offers for the enhancement and development of skills.

An increasing number of teachers, experiment innovative teaching methods of varying orientation (problem solving, life skills, flipped-classroom, learning by doing, cooperative-learning, cooperative learning, CLIL methodology, division into groups and work by objectives). Spontaneously, forms of collaboration and confrontation also arise to prepare students to participate in groups or individually to competitions or contests held at regional or national level.

The identity of the Technical Institutes, as foreseen by the regulation containing rules concerning the reorganization carried out by the latest reform, is characterized by a solid scientific and technological cultural base in line with the indications of the European Union: built through the study, the deepening , the application of languages and methodologies of a general and specific nature, fundamental for the economic and productive development of the Country; with the aim of making students acquire, in relation to the exercise of technical professions, the knowledge and skills necessary for a rapid integration into the world of work, for access to university and higher technical education and training. Moreover the institute enhances its historical identity as a point of reference in the world of work through collaborations with companies, specific projects and ASL paths. Reason for which it has been identified, in the electrotechnical sector, to start a path of apprenticeship of high training and research in alternating school-work edited by ENEL (Article 8 bis, DL 104/2012, protocol “MIUR-MLPS-ENEL) , which continues in an equally prestigious project with other companies in the area. Technological learning founds its basis in the automation design.

Construction and management of control systems is further explored in the Automation Department through the following units:

  • programming of industrial controllers (PLC);
  • programming of microcontrollers with the C language (Arduino);
  • elements of robotics;
  • domotics and programming of KNX devices;
  • control of electric machines

The Institute, taking into account the educational needs of contemporary society and the environmental context in which it is located, intends to implement a vast program of interventions aimed at educating the young through education in order to initiate the process of formation that will take him to acquire a social identity through extracurricular experiences.

The education to which the school looks at is aimed at promoting the formation of man and of the citizen on the basis of the principles of the Constitution of the Italian Republic, aimed at gradually maturing one’s own awareness: “who I am”, “what I want” , “how do I relate with others” – to understand the best way to relate to the environment and to others, respecting the individuality of each person, accepting diversity, solidarity, respecting the rules of cohabitation, in the assumption of one’s own responsibilities, in the desire for personal commitment and in the search for common solutions that, through constructive confrontation of opinions and knowledge, lead to democratic coexistence and to human progress. This process of growth does not happen naturally but needs of an “adult and professional” action of stimulus and help that intentionally operates to make the p activated processes (this task is entrusted to teachers who work in the school and who must be able to take advantage of the collaboration of families in order to foster the cognitive, psychological and social growth of the young person).
